Computer-to-Plate

CTP has many benefits over a film-based workflow. Because CTP utilizes digital files containing all necessary data, jobs are easier to store, ship, handle, transfer, and copy. Multiple-on forms can be made using one set of files rather than creating dupe film. CTP files can be re-imposed, if necessary, much more efficiently than film. And the crisp dot structure of CTP creates plates that are sharper, yielding better ink coverage and cleaner images. CTP technology also enables adjustments during the plate making process that compensate for dot gain and paper surface.

By printing from dynamic files rather than static film, the CTP digital workflow makes a single job file the source of from one to one million copies, from initial printing through 1,000th printing, on both offset and digital equipment. CTP output is always first generation, delivering high quality on every reprint without the deterioration, accumulated dirt, and inevitable scratches of film.
